My day to day consists of either classroom work learning safety precautions, aircraft materials, construction and maintenance. Or completing practical's with aircraft, practicing tasks and maintenance procedures.

It is a three year apprentership that involves 10 months at college then 18 on On the job training

first year is based on a college year. last two years have on job training, working on aircraft to evolve our hand skills. it involves extreme precision and reading of the AMM to correctly undertake tasks

Assisting in the in depth mechanical maintenance of aircraft

In education, training to become an aircraft maintainer to work on chinook and apache's to be able to support safe flights

Throughout the first year our day to day includes studying modules in college.

I'm currently doing level 2 route to aero programme. I'm based in Farnborough Tech college, learning the theory of flight and helicopter system such as the powertrain, flight controls, avionics and etc.

Taught classroom learning (theory) which is supported by weekly workshop hands on experience to reinforce learning. Great teachers with thorough understanding and experience working on aircraft.

In full time education working towards a level 2 in aviation engineering.

Having just started the course, we have a mixed schedule, with 3 days a week learning theory and 2 being practical metalwork and engineering experience. Daily we arrive at college and either go into theory or practical work depending on the day.
