Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role and day to day was constantly adapting to the current module I was sitting in my apprenticeship. For example, if I was learning about networking, I would be on the networking team for the coming 3 or so months. This meant I was given experience in a number of teams which helped significantly in my apprenticeship. I was given the same responsibilities as any colleague on the team but given enough time and mentoring to not feel pressured. This includes server maintenance, network load balancing, patch releases, service desk work, physical device set-ups, and more.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
The programme couldn't be any more enjoyable. We were part of an early talent team of apprentices and student placements in similar situations. This meant we met new people and had days out with them (Army barrack days, bowling, networking events). Constantly changing teams also meant I did not get bored with 1 team and did not become complacent.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learned an enormous amount of skills as well as developing existing skills. I was given numerous opportunities to grow such as networking events, open evenings, extra-curricular courses, and apprenticeship award days. My technical skills as well as communication skills have increased ten-fold. Having just come from leaving school I had minimal hands-on knowledge as well as poor communication skills. My apprenticeship allowed me to step out my comfort zone, as well as chances to learn.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is structured and organised incredibly well. I have always had a plan set out for each month I was undergoing my apprenticeship aligned up with the module I was currently learning. I knew always what I was working on, what team, and what was next thanks to my manager. I also have had numerous stand-ups / catchups from my line manager, current team manager I was situated with, and my mentor.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive an enormous amount of support with numerous points of contact. I have my manager, mentor, buddy, assigned team manager, and the early talent team to name a few. I also have previous colleagues from the teams I had worked with in the past who would be glad to help too.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
I was given alot of support from my training provider. Monthly calls and the access to my coach's email meant all my questions and worries could be answered.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
My qualification was more-so directed towards service desk work than networking and dev-ops for example. However the modules were still relevant to the team I was on just more technical. I am glad this is how it was set up as it meant my qualification allowed for a baseline fundamental knowledge, proving very useful as I had never had hands-on work as I had only just left secondary school before this.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Absolutely! Sports teams, networking, apprenticeship and graduate events such as open evenings and knowledge evenings, early talent gatherings, further learning with paid-for courses and sites. I have also been pushed to apply for the regional apprenticeship awards of which I won, and got a paid-for trip to London for the nationals!
