Overview of the Role
Overall, how would you describe your experience at RPC?
I have really enjoyed my time so far. My team has been supportive and welcoming, providing feedback as and when it is required. The smaller office size makes for a cozier and homier feel.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
My role is to support senior members of the team, which builds my exposure on a wide range of tasks from document and contract reviews to participating in client calls and liaising with overseas counsels. I enjoy the opportunity to engage in direct communication with clients.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

While we are offered a couple of perks and benefits, these are not very significant or high compared to other firms.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I have been gaining experience in a range of tasks and building my knowledge of the practice area I am working in. I have seen a lot of improvement in my communication and research skills which are highly relevant to my future career as a solicitor.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

We have mandatory training as well as training calls throughout the year that we can choose to join. This creates an environment of continuous learning and development. I have gained knowledge to many practice areas and ways of working. I have enjoyed working on my research and drafting skills, which I have felt an improvement in.

How is the support you receive?

I have a supervisor in my team who I have weekly catch ups with which is a great formal platform to share the work I have been involved in as well as work I am interested in getting more involved in. HR are very approachable and easily contactable which creates a supportive and inviting environment to ask questions in.
How is your work-life balance?

My general working hours are 9am to 5.30pm which gives me enough time to engage in my hobbies, build my network and explore neighbouring cities.
What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

The culture is positive and welcoming. We have no hybrid working policy as the system is built on trust. This flexibility allows me to perform at my best as I can choose whether I would feel most productive and engaged at work or at home on any given day.
How would you rate RPC initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

I feel that RPC is making a conscious effort to improve their practices and approach, creating a multiracial environment, celebrating different festivals and holidays ranging from Christmas to Diwali.
How would you rate RPC CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

While RPC is making an effort towards increasing their CSR initiatives, further work could be done in terms of the environmental pillar.

Why?
The supportive and fast-paced environment is perfect for constant learning and development. People are truly themselves which allows you to bring your genuine self to work as well, taking away any pressure from having to behave a certain way.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

I had high expectations and was unsure of whether the work-life balance would meet what is generally said but these expectations were met.
