I am a solicitor apprentice at . In my first year, I work within the Matter Support Central team, assisting various legal teams with a range of tasks. My day-to-day responsibilities include drafting legal documents, preparing bundles, and providing general support across different matter
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy my programme very much. The variety of work within the Matter Support Central team means I am constantly learning and gaining exposure to different areas of law. I find the hands-on experience particularly valuable, as it allows me to develop practical legal skills early on. The work is rewarding and has helped me build confidence and adaptability

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, I have developed a range of new skills and strengthened existing ones. I’ve improved my legal drafting and research skills through working on different matters, and I’ve become more confident in preparing bundles and handling documents accurately. I’ve also developed stronger organisational and time management skills by balancing multiple tasks from different teams. In addition, my communication and teamwork skills have improved through collaborating with colleagues across the firm

How well organised/structured is your programme?

My programme is generally well organised and structured. There is a clear framework in place, with defined responsibilities in the Matter Support Central team and support from colleagues when needed. The variety of tasks is balanced with guidance, which helps me stay on track and continue developing my skills. While some days can be busy due to the nature of the work, the overall structure provides a good foundation for learning and progression. As I progress through the programme, I will also move into placements within specific legal teams, which will give me more in-depth, hands-on experience in particular areas of law
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive a lot of support from my employer. Everyone is very friendly, approachable, and genuinely invested in my development. I feel comfortable asking questions and seeking guidance, and there is always someone willing to help, which has made settling into and continuing in my role much easier.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I receive a lot of support from my training provider. The University of Law is very helpful and always available if any support is needed. They provide clear guidance on coursework and are responsive to any questions, which helps me stay on track with my studies alongside wo
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I feel that my qualification helps me perform better in my role to a good extent. As I am studying a law degree, it provides me with a strong foundation in legal principles, which supports my understanding of the work I carry out. It also helps me approach tasks with more confidence and improves the quality of my drafting and research.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work from time to time. These include social events and occasional networking opportunities, which are a good way to connect with colleagues outside of day-to-day work.
