Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role is incredibly varied. We undertake placements under different legal teams, so the type of work I will be doing changes when I move placement, which is every 6-12 months. I have gained valuable experience in Cyber & Technology Insurance, Media Litigation and now on a client secondment focusing on Corporate M&A Insurance (or W&I Insurance).
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I have enjoyed my time at RPC for the last 2.5 years. I was based in the Bristol office for the first two years when completing the Paralegal Apprenticeship. I was fortunately able to transfer to our London office to progress onto the Solicitor Apprenticeship, which I have very much enjoyed so far!

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
I spent two years in the Legal Operational Support team which is varied but the tasks I was undertaking day-to-day didn't have much structure, but it was a great place to learn multiple about multiple areas of the firm. Placements may not have an exact end date so they heavily depend on business need. For instance, my placement in Media litigation was for 8 months rather than 12, and my secondment is for 6 months. Apprentices in other firms tend to have a bit more structure with their placements.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
Our London Apprentice Supervisor is incredibly supportive and genuinely cares about our experience and progression.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
Yes - in London especially. There was a bit less going on when I was based in the Bristol office.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend RPC to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Incredibly supportive culture and is a great place to learn. You'll gain so much valuable experience before starting a Training Contract, so you'll be at a real advantage when applying for NQ roles.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RPC?
Understand the core sectors RPC operate in and our growth strategy. Utilise your prior work experience/skills gained from school to demonstrate key skills required of a solicitor (commercial awareness, communication, etc). Think of examples where you have previously demonstrated these. Think about the culture/values of RPC (Collaborative, Committed, Commercial) and explain how you would uphold them / why you would be a good fit for the role.
