Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

My current role involves assisting Associates with their matters in numerous ways. This could involve drafting documents, preparing chronologies or conducting legal research. I also assist on the day-to-day running of files with my supervisor, which involves reviewing legal documents and preparing an analysis of the claims strengths and weaknesses.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

The programme has given me the skills to work in the legal industry while also giving me the qualifications. Doing all of this while earning and not paying for student loans is a huge bonus to the programme.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Yes, in recent years as I've progressed, I've been given more responsibility on matters which has given me an insight into how lawyers operate day-to-day. This includes drafting skills and also general time management skills, where balancing different tasks need to be considered by urgency and priority.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The structure of the programme has changed over the years. As one of the earlier apprentices at the firm, there was not a fixed structure on the work that we would be completing. However, the firm has listened to our feedback and put a structure in place where your progression is updated year-to-year.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

There is support available from a skills coach that is assigned to you and from the module lecturers. My skills coach has been incredibly supportive while I complete my studying/revision for the SQE.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

As my role has developed, it's become more important for me to use the knowledge gained from my qualification. The earlier years are more focussed on the skills that you gain in the workplace, but as you get closer to completion, the qualification gives you the knowledge to be able to complete tasks effectively.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am involved with the football team and the firm puts on a monthly office social. There are also team socials to get involved with as well as plenty of informal drinks that are arranged with your colleagues.

Would you recommend RPC to a friend?

Why?
RPC has provided me with plenty of opportunities to develop and I've been able to do it with a great supportive network of the people that I have met while at the firm.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to RPC?
The firm is client driven and focussed on its people. Being a supportive person who can demonstrate that they are here to grow is something that appears to be key for RPC.
