Overall, how would you describe your experience at National Grid?
As an HVDC Asset Engineer, I’ve had access to cutting-edge technology, world-class training, and mentorship that has accelerated my career in ways I never imagined. The leadership is visionary, the teams are inspiring, and the mission, to enable a clean, fair, and affordable energy future, is something I’m proud to contribute to every single day.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
What I enjoyed most was the technical depth of the role, working on complex systems, solving engineering challenges, and continuously learning in a highly innovative environment.
To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?
The technical challenges, collaborative environment, and shared mission to deliver a greener future ensured that I felt both empowered and appreciated. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that my work supports a more sustainable and interconnected energy system for all.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?
Day-to-day, I was constantly learning, whether through solving complex engineering problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, or engaging in innovation projects. The blend of formal training and practical exposure made it one of the most enriching environments for skill growth I’ve ever experienced.
