Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at National Grid?
A fantastic experience which gave me both an insight into the energy sector, and also the HR professional in one scheme. A good balance of training and work experience, with the ability to feel as if you make real impact in each of the three 6-month rotations you undertake.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
3 placements, 2 in HR, and 1 in the wider business. I personally enjoyed the generalist HR work the most.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend National Grid to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It is a great company that gives you corporate experience, whilst not expecting you to lose your work-life balance. It also takes on graduates with a clear view to them being permanent future talent, rather than headcount for a scheme. This is a very different approach to many large businesses in the UK with early career talent.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?
4/5
When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to National Grid?
I would say to be your authentic self and don't be afraid to bring your personality to the assessment centre because it is strengths based instead of capability based and this allows the business to understand what sort of skills you thrive off of and what work environment would suit you best.
