Overall, how would you describe your experience at National Grid?
Very educational, I am glad to have chosen this graduate program. Overall, the graduate program offered a well-rounded experience that balanced technical development with leadership and stakeholder engagement.

During my time in the National Grid graduate program, I was primarily responsible for supporting the development and implementation of safety protocols, resilience strategies, and crisis management frameworks across operational sites. My role involved:
Crisis Management: Assisting in the design and testing of emergency response procedures, ensuring readiness for high-impact scenarios.
Resilience Engineering: Contributing to risk assessments and resilience planning to safeguard critical infrastructure.
Process Safety: Supporting hazard identification and mitigation activities, including HAZOP studies and safety case reviews.
These responsibilities gave me a strong foundation in safety engineering and allowed me to work on real-world challenges that impact national energy infrastructure.
What I enjoyed most about the role was the collaborative team environment. Working alongside experienced engineers and cross-functional teams helped me grow professionally and personally. I also appreciated the emphasis on innovation, where I was encouraged to bring fresh ideas to improve safety and resilience processes. Additionally, I had opportunities to represent the team in external forums and workshops, which enhanced my communication skills and broadened my industry perspective.
