Overall, how would you describe your experience at Mott MacDonald?
My experience in Mott Macdonald has been phenomenal. It has been an amazing learning experience around Project Management which is what I specialise in and I have enjoyed how interesting it is to be a part of a project. The work culture is also amazing. In addition to having the flexible working, there is also adequate support for colleagues during challenging times which I have found quite helpful. The people are also super wonderful. Everyone is very positive and keen to help me develop and learn new things. I love it here.
What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?
I currently work as a Project Management Officer on my current role and part of my main responsibilities include supporting the project and contract manager on the internal project management activities such as the Business Management Systems. I also work on some of the key streams of my current project which include Additional support to our clients, quality assurance of client data, organising client webinars and managing the monthly contract report developed for the client.
One element of my role I've really enjoyed is being given ownership of certain tasks. For example, I was handed over the role of managing the additional support stream of work where we partner with one of our subcontractors to provide our clients with help on areas they might be struggling with.

Some of the benefits I find most valuable include the private medical insurance and the gym membership as well.
How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

I believe my current role is preparing me for my future career perfectly. I have been given the opportunity to see what being a project manager entails and also developing my skills and abilities to become one. I have also gotten adequate support from my team and line manager to help me in both my personal and professional development.
How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

Learning on my day-to-day role has been wonderful. My team have really created an environment that has helped me learn how to do certain tasks and also build a level of independence and I can actively see my growth and progress from when I started. In addition to this, there have also been several formal training activities including some of our graduate programs which have been super useful in helping to build my soft skills.

Why?
Mott Macdonald is a great place to work. I love the fact that the company is focused on making the world a better place through their projects and their people. The work here is fulfilling. Additionally the work environment is very conducive for learning, building communication skills and developing good relationships with colleagues. I also appreciate that the company gives people the opportunity to define their career pathway and there are ample opportunities for growth and development.
How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

I believe my role has exceeded my expectations. Before I joined, I couldn't really picture what it actually meant to be a project manager, but since I joined, it has been an excellent experience.

I believe anyone wanting to join Mott Macdonald should learn about the company values and understand what the organisation stands for. This is very important because to excel here, you will need internalise the company values as yours. You need to demonstrate that you see a company on the path of success and changing the world and you want to be a part of that. You also need to be your true self, expressing the desire to learn and providing evidence of your teachability.
