Excellent introductory experience into admin job roles, with lots of opportunities within the Wakefield council. Supportive apprenticeship team, that really do care about you getting the most valuable job experience. Velocity Academy provides amazing education, with the focus on each student individual goals and progress.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
My programme consists of me moving through different service departments quarterly for 2 years, which enables me to further develop all my skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
I have developed great admin skills, due to this being my first admin job I was able to experience office working structure and culture.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
4/5
My programme has many experiences with apprentices in mind such as apprentice days, training, opportunities to discover different areas of the council for a day and many more. This ensures me that we are always kept in mind to gain many great experiences and further develop my skills. Having the apprenticeship team available to talk to when needed is a great plus of the apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
As an apprentice, my employer and managers are always ready to listen to any concerns or ideas I may have weather they arise within the workplace or my personal life when applies, such as my one to one monthly reviews.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
This is something that my tutor is very encouraging about, and is always happy to explain, provide extra material or speak with my employer or the apprenticeship if needed. I know that I can reach out if I ever need any extra support, or raise it in my monthly one to one with my tutor.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
4/5
Enriching my IT skills, as well as getting an understanding on how businesses and public sector job rules work. I believe I can apply all of my knowledge into my job role.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
Yes, lots of social after work activities, as well as council organised days and experiences everyone can pay part in. Including apprentice days or training.
