Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My day to day involves making any parts that need to be made, making sure that the printers are working as well as building any new machines that needs to be build. I work with other members of the team to deliver labs to the students as well.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
4/5
I enjoy my programme a lot. I enjoy collaborating with others and learning new skills.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
4/5
During my time on my apprenticeship, I've developed skills in communication, furthered my skills in 3D printing as well as learning how to use new machines like mills and lathes with my training provider.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
3/5
I think that the work side of my programme is very well organised.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
4/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer as and when I need it. They are always open to having a discussion to work through any problems that I have and I know that there is always someone else to go to if the person I have asked doesn't know the answer to my problems.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
2/5
Support from the training provider has been lacking at times. It's been difficult to get hold of people without calling them directly if I need clarification on something. I also feel that it has been a rush to get things finished and there have been extended periods of time where we haven't had a consistent teacher.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
3/5
I think that it has opened my eyes to how most engineering works and has helped me to understand tolerancing and drawings.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
4/5
I help out with outreach when it's needed as well as helping students in 3D printing workshops held in the evenings during term times.
