Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My role was extremely varied and having 1 day a week dedicated to my study was so useful.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
There were many teams that supported me throughout my course and helped to make my course fit into my everyday work and allowed me to use my learning in practice

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I learnt hundreds of new skills, coming straight out of school with minimal work experience, so I learnt everything from using excel to dealing with complex HR queries and I am now confident in my role and can advise others

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well structured, I had a day a week dedicated to study which was broken down into modules. I had access to all resources such as class slides, exam/EPA support documents and there was always someone I could speak to if I needed assistance.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I had support from many people within the organisation and the apprenticeship network allowed me to talk to others doing to same course as me, or people who had recently finished it.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I had lots of support from my training provider, with a regular catch-up monthly and extra support during my EPA, they were always contactable if I needed it
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I can now give good HR advice to managers that fits the organisation, not just general HR
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There were many networking events, for teams, HR Staff, apprentices and more which was extremely helpful and I felt very supported.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend University of Oxford to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Going to do an apprenticeship straight out of school was the best decision I made, it allowed me to gain work experience and skills, along with a qualification and good pay. The organisation was also very flexible with my needs and support.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to University of Oxford?
Make sure you read about the organisation first as it is a complex and devolved organisation, so many things differ between departments, so learn what department yo want to be a part of and their values.
