Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I am a Communications and Digital Content Officer at the University of Oxford’s Department of Engineering Science, where I support the department’s digital communications through a mix of strategy and content creation.
On a day-to-day basis, I manage social media, create and publish digital content, monitor performance through analytics, and help maintain website content. I also produce visual assets such as photography and videography, support branding, and assist with departmental events.
I work with a range of stakeholders to communicate research to diverse audiences, ensuring content is engaging, accessible, and aligned with the University’s brand.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I'm really enjoying the degree programme as it perfectly slots in with my day-to-day work and is helping me strengthen my skillset in key areas to ensure I do my role to the best of my ability.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I am in the early stages of the degree having only been on the course for 3 months or so, but I already feel as though I'm taking a lot more initiative with my work and using theory and learning to justify decisions and do more meaningful and impactful work. I understand much more about the principles of design and how to generate impact from mindful decisions.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
The programme is very well run and slots in amongst my work very easily. The tutors and lecturers are super responsive and helpful and the university does a great job in supporting students and providing clear feedback.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I receive a lot of support and encouragement from my employer to ensure I have everything I need to complete the degree to the best of my ability whether that be through specific tasks aligned with my assessment criteria or general support and guidance.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I get a lot of support from my training provider through check-ins and reviews that are consistent and personal.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
It helps significantly in my role through the aligned and integrated learning with my job role and helping me pinpoint and develop in key areas.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
I help run a social media community of practice network within the university to bridge connections and network with others in similar roles as well as being an apprentice ambassador where I work a lot with others across the university supporting events, and meeting for networking and social events.
