Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
Monitoring the University's fixed assets and keeping the asset register up-to-date; this includes physically verifying them, inputting data onto our accounting software system (Oracle), as well as completing bank reconciliations.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I thoroughly enjoy every aspect of my apprenticeship - the studying, workplace, colleagues etc. Couldn't recommend it enough

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have enhanced my communication skills, both written and verbally, as well as learning to adapt to change quickly. My practical skills and accounting knowledge has grown immensely from learning via both college and in practice in the workplace.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
My programme is very well structed with weekly 20% study time taking place at college campus once a week, then having regular progress review meetings with my training provider and employer to keep track of my progress.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
I receive a lot of support from my employer from multiple areas. My line manager, my team, former apprentices in the office, head of admin (who I meet with on a regular weekly basis to discuss and reflect on my apprenticeship)
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
4/5
I receive a good level of support from my training provider, when in college.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
It provides me with enhanced knowledge within accounting areas that helps me to further understand my day-to-day tasks I complete in my role, which ultimately helps me to understand when errors are made and to be able to spot and identify how to rectify them.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are social activities within the team I work with closely day-to-day with, but also larger functions throughout the University for all staff members in different departments to meet and socialise together (e.g. summer and Christmas events)

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend University of Oxford to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I receive a lot of support during my apprenticeship, the team is so friendly and I'm gaining valuable practical experience within the workplace, earning a very decent salary and gaining a qualification at the same time.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to University of Oxford?
Apprenticeship opportunities are competitive, so don't give up applying for apprenticeships at the University you may not be successful at first, but there are so many departments that have the same roles across the university that can provide you with the same qualification.
