Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My main focus is around management accounting. I overlook the accounts of the PI's in my department, and make sure that they are not running in a deficit. I also process adjustment journals to, for example, recharge expenditure that has been charged to the wrong account. I also raise invoices for the department when needed.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
I am very much enjoying my programme. I am well looked after both at work and at my college while studying. With their support, I have been able to achieve high grades in all exams so far.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I have learnt and developed vital professional skills such as Microsoft office application skills. In college, I am quickly learning the accounting process and applying this knowledge at work.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?
5/5
Very well organised. Structured plans both at work and at college which is the right pace for my development.
How much support do you receive from your employer?
5/5
More than enough. I have regular one to ones with my manager to makes sure I am okay at work, college and at home. My wellbeing and development is highly looked after.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
5/5
Great support. I have had great tutors so far at college who have enabled me to get high grade results.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
5/5
I am able to apply what I am learning at college to what I am doing at work. When I learn something more in depth about what I am doing at work, I get a deeper understanding of what I am doing.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
There are weekly departmental meeting and regular administration meetings which act as a time for networking and mixing with the professors in our department to understand more about what they are teaching and what we are doing to support them.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend University of Oxford to a friend?
Yes
Why?
I have thrived at Oxford University and I have a string career outlook for when I finish.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to University of Oxford?
Take your time with the application. Let the department know why you want this apprenticeship in particular and showcase yourself as a person. Grades are not the most important thing the employers are looking at, they are looking to see who is the best fit for the team. So sell yourself as a person in the application and in the interview.
