As a junior delivery manager i support the senior delivery manager with all aspects of the project. I host our daily project stand-up calls, help the team work through any blockers, create project plans, review our finances and resources, complete project governance and attend client calls.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

Degree apprenticeships are not the easy option, trying to do a full-time job and complete university and apprenticeship requirements requires a lot of resilience and organisation. Although the university aspect of the program at times felt futile, the opportunity's gained from being on the program are endless. Capgemini are truly invested in providing the best apprenticeship experience possible and so there's been so much I've been able to get involved in outside of my day job that have developed me as a professional.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

I've learnt a huge amount of new skills- project planning, knowledge on SAP (the technology my projects are on), presentation skills, stakeholder management, leadership, time management, project management, financial management, resource management, team-building- the list could go on!
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

At times the program lacks organisation and structure but this has mainly been from a university perspective (we are soon changing our provider however so i don't expect this to be an issue for any new joiners). The early and emerging talent team work incredibly hard to ensure there are plenty of development sessions available for us to attend, plenty of opportunity to network and plenty of opportunity to share our feedback. They are always on hand to support you and answer any questions you might have.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I've received an incredible amount of support from my employer. Everyone is always happy to support whether its your manager, people manager, fellow apprentices, your wider network or the E&ET team.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The support from the training provider has been laxed from a lecturer perspective. My skills coach however has been incredibly supportive and is always on hand for me to ask any questions. The training provider will be changing imminently however so i dont feel my experience will be particularly relevant to new joiners.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

It's been helpful to learn about the theory side of things but ultimately my degree has been a necessary evil. It's good to be able to put on my CV but the most value and benefit has come from my on the job experience, not from anything ive learnt at university.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There's an incredibly strong early and emerging talent community at Capgemini from a UK perspective and also at an individual office perspective. Here in Telford there are over 300 grads and apprentices, we hold a monthly E&ET office day that includes multiple development sessions and networking opportunities during the day, followed by a funded social in the evening. There is also a gym at the office that has a brilliant community feel and lots of classes and events to get involved in.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
- make sure you pick out your transferrable skills!! dont assume because you have no professional experience that youve not got any of these, if youve been involved in a sports team, played a musical instrument, had a part-time job, had a role of responsibility etc these all have a wealth of transferrable skills that will be of great benefit to the business, make sure you bring them out in your application and interview!
