Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

I currently train as a cloud engineer, my role on a day-to-day basis involves looking after our clients cloud applications infrastructure. This involves conducting quarterly patches and updates and security monitoring. I also work with my team to scale our clients infrastructure capabilities, when a greater throughput is required.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I thoroughly enjoy my program, because there is a lot of opportunity to grow and a vast community of apprentices within the company where you can meet like minded individuals and grow your network.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Having no prior experience within the technical space, I have learned a lot of valuable skills, such as, database administration, SQL scripting, cloud infrastructure concepts and unix scripting. This has greatly improved my technical skills and helped me develop a more professional outlook.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The programme was fairly structured and organised, clear indications of what study material would be required and weekly lectures from university to provide formal learning.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

I receive immense support from my employer, my team is very accomodating given the fact that I require time off in order to study and complete assignments. They have supported me along the way in order to ensure I am at ease whilst undertaking my studies.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

The university offers a decent amount of support, they module leaders offer one to one meetings to discuss any issues we as apprentices might have with a modules content or if any extra help is required.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

I believe the hard skills gained through university learning does provide me with great fundamental knowledge about various aspects of software engineering. However, it would be more beneficial to include more industry related technologies such as, Oracle/AWS cloud.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

There are a lot of activities to get involved in from professional networking events within the apprentice community, to volunteering opportunities with various charity trusts such as The Kings Trust, Macmillan cancer support etc.

The work-life balance is great, with good opportunities to take up extra training and expand your knowledge along with a strong apprentice community.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
Always be willing to explore new opportunities when they come your way, be open to take part in volunteering opportunities whenever possible as it helps build a good network.
