Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Triaging the tasks that come into the queue
Testing a manual install of the application
Wrapping the software using PSADT
Creating the package \ software in SCCM
Editing AD (Active Directory) so that the software can be added to the machines
Raising a Change to deploy to the machines
Monitoring

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I love it
I am a modern apprentice & starting to feel my age a little, then given this opportunity & I am now in my second year, it is much harder, but love it.
I have been complimented with regards my work ethic & I am a critical thinker! Apparently :)

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

Reading PowerShell Scripts in ADT
Working in SCCM & how it integrates with AD (Active Directory)
Team dynamics, working with other Teams & who the go to person is to explain things
Understanding the Change process & the change in process (2 changes in the last year)
Listening & Documenting process changes

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

Very.
Organised, set with expectations, but they are achievable.
I fell behind a bit, struggled with motivation, but I am back up & fighting !
Feeling more positive now.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

Support to do it, as much as I want basically.
Support as in help, very little as we are such a busy team I am kind of on my own, with my QA mentor so it's not so bad.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Loads, very well supported, QA is amazing & the support is outstanding. QA is with me every step of the way all I have to do is ask. I didn't ask for help, but it was offered so I accepted.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

Discipline & self control. You only get back what you put in. You are responsible for yourself. If you don't have that work ethic, you won't achieve your goals. I am learning to self motivate to get things done. It's a skill I did not have.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

I am sure there are some, I am stretched as it is. 1 son is off to college at the end of the year & my 13 year old is going in to S2, so home life it pretty manic & the apprenticeship keeps me busy along side my day job.

Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?

Yes

Why?

If you want to be trained & learn new skills, this is a company that will do that. There are many training platforms you can learn new skills on, if you want to learn. Pay isn't brilliant, but what company is paying a lot? I have been 18 years!

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?

Don't worry if you think you don't have the technical skills you need, Capgemini will teach you. If you have the right work ethic you can go far in Capgemini. You can do all kinds of roles all in the same company. Team Leader to server engineer
