Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

As a Technician Scientist I support the Production Team with the manufacture of vaccines for early phase clinical trials. I help prepare documentation and materials required for the process. I also support with the routine cleaning and housekeeping of our cleanrooms.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I enjoy learning about the manufacture of investigational medicinal products through the hands on work that I do and through the theory taught by my training provider.
Skills Development
Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

While completing my higher level apprenticeship, I have develop my interpersonal skills as well as my laboratory skills. I have learned to use scientific equipment and maintain it correctly, I have developed analytical skills and my problem solving skills.
Structure and Support
How well organised/structured is your programme?

The Applied Bioscience programme with focus on ATMPs is very well structured, as I have learned the basics of manufacturing and the regulatory aspects. I have also learned about project management, which is all required for the process
How much support do you receive from your employer?

The University of Oxford has a supportive apprenticeship network, which offer regular training sessions on mentoring. I also have regular meetings with my line manager, who has supported with throughout my apprenticeship.
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

I have regular meetings with my apprenticeship advisor from the University of Kent (every three months). I am also able to get in touch with my module convenors and talk about my assignments. After submitting my assignments, I receive valuable feedback on areas of improvement.
How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

The modules that I have completed as part of the Applied Bioscience programme align with the activities that I perform on a regular basis and thus help me apply the theoretical knowledge in practice while at my workplace.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

The University of Oxford organises multiple professional networking events. As part of the apprenticeship programme, additional networking events are organised to meet other apprentices in the university.
