Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

My daily responsibilities included checking study mailboxes and filing emails under appropriate classifications. I also performed quality checks on documents before filing them in the VTMF. Additionally, I tracked IRB submissions and prepared monthly reports for the study team.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

I have been given manageable responsibilities, and my managers are always there to support me whenever I am stuck. I greatly appreciate the support from my managers.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

My new skills include professional communication, which I had never done before, particularly when sending emails to colleagues. I also learned how clinical trials work and what documentation is required to conduct them.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The office was very welcoming, and everyone was kind during my frequent visits. Working remotely was also efficient, as everyone responded to my messages promptly.

Overall Experience

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?

I greatly enjoyed my placement year. Although I was quite scared before starting, once onboarded, everyone was really supportive and my managers took excellent care of me.
