Marketing Industrial Placement Review

I was responsible for the creation and maintenance of all of our global marketing assets related to bone cement and using this to help guide a global marketing campaign for a new product launch. As well as this I had to manage my time between multiple projects, including training of all new starters on site, website creation, developing secondary business cases and negotiating a change in a distribution agreement.
I was also responsible for organising and helping to deliver workshops focused on training surgeons and sales team associates on surgical technique using bone cement.

I was given full control over important projects with the ability and trust to make decisions that affected the outcome of each of these.
The entire base business of marketing collateral copy approval was left entirely to myself to manage with full responsibility for managing expiration deadlines. I was given as much responsibility as any member of the team and felt truly important in the role.

One skillset I felt developed immensely in my time at J&J was my presentation skills. Coming into the role, I did not enjoy presenting to any size of crowd, but by the end I confidently presented to audiences of different seniority and size (10-100).

I had the constant support of my line manager who was always at hand to help if needed. Although, I appreciated the ability to be able to develop myself and make my own mistakes to learn from, which he was always helpful to facilitate and guide me after.

Generally the company was a great place to work with a friendly atmosphere around all staff members, I got to know and make great friends with members of other departments even if I didn’t work closely with them just because of the atmosphere we had to laugh with each other whilst enjoying the work.
The company also has great benefits and a generous reward system. This is especially apparent in the CSR system which is highly promoted and builds a community from which we held events to raise money for local initiatives.

I loved my placement and would happily go back to J&J.
