Primary Purpose of the Job

The Internal Audit function provides independent advice on the organisations’ risks and controls and works with the business to identify and implement improvements where needed and ensure best practice measures are in place.

This is mainly achieved by conducting audit engagements to help the business accomplish its objectives. The team brings a systematic approach to evaluating and improving processes and contributes towards continuous improvement across the business.

Main Responsibilities

• Work with a fast paced, busy Internal Audit team to plan and perform operational, financial and compliance audits as well as IT audits,
• Support the Internal Audit team to prepare, coordinate, perform and follow up on joint audits with the Corporate Internal Audit team at VWFS Germany,
• Develop an understanding of the standards and best practices set out by the Institute of Internal Auditors and the Corporate Internal Audit team of VWFS,
• Assist in the follow up of audit findings with the Internal Audit team,
• Support the team in preparing various reports for the Board of Management in the UK and Board of Directors for VWFS UK,
• Assist the Internal Audit team in maintaining key documentation used within the Internal Audit Department, e.g. internal template questionnaires, checklists and manuals, and proactively make suggestions for continuous improvement.

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

• Internal Audit Manager’s – supporting IA Managers with audit fieldwork, testing and documentation review,
• Head of Internal Audit – collating Board of Management and Board of Director reporting and any adhoc requests,
• Business areas – working with each business area on audit engagements.

Decision Making Scope

• Potential to identify efficiencies within the audit function,
• Present audit findings to Internal Audit Manager and discuss possible outcomes and resolutions.

Key Challenges

• Understanding of local regulatory requirements (Financial Conduct Authority)
• Understanding of EU and German regulations (BaFin, MaRisk, ECB)
• Review of different processes with the ability to understand various topics such as Finance, Customer Operations, Risk.

Education, Training and Experience

• Studying towards a business-related degree,
• Knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Word,
• An interest in the Financial Services sector,
• Demonstrates an understanding of regulatory principles, sources and interpretation.

• Ability to learn and apply new or unfamiliar knowledge quickly,
