Job Description

Register Your Interest - Asset Risk Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

This position reports to the Asset Risk Modelling Analyst.

The Vehicle Forecasting & Asset Risk Undergraduate is responsible for the analysis and evaluation of industry and market related data to calculate Residual Values (RVs) for all VWG models. Using industry guides and data from VWFS and VWG remarketing results you will prepare and recommend RV proposals for review and ratification by the Residual Value Setting Forum (RVSF).

Main Responsibilities

Timely and accurate analysis of industry and market related data, as well as VWFS and VWG remarketing results, to calculate and produce RV reviews using specialist software, for example Autofutura, for all VWG models in line with the RV review schedule. Review recommendations are explained in detail with supporting data to Asset Risk Management to back up the rationale within the RV proposals.

Working with data supplied by VWG brand colleagues you will review new model product information and collate data analysis before recommending RVs to the RVSF for new VWG models entering the market. You will ensure the values are ratified in time to meet the launch live-and-quotable dates. This is critical in supporting the VWG brands with the new model launches.

Responsible for the analysis, processing, and updating of RV data and remarketing data into core systems used to maintain and produce RVs and RV data, mainly Autofutura. It is critical that the data within the system is up-to-date, monitored, and reviewed, allowing accurate analysis of the market and VWFS RV positioning at any time, as needed.

Timely monthly data updates and analysis are vital in the monitoring of the market and allows trends and movements to be discovered and analysed quickly and, if needed, changes to RVs recommended. You will expertly utilise available programs and applications to do this including Autofutura, Tableau, and Excel.

Asset Risk work with many colleagues across VWFS, VWG and the dealer network, with the role holder expected to act as a communications interface and provider of accurate information and data. You will work with colleagues at all levels, including exposure to and engagement with senior management. This also includes the management of multiple inboxes, responding in a timely and accurate manner to queries such as bespoke RV requests, Fleet tenders, LCV conversions, RV uplifts and RV overrides, as well as reviewing brand product updates.

You will work with Asset Risk Management and the RVSF to continuously review RV methodologies and processes, ensuring best practice is recommended and adopted by VWFS, balancing the requirements of stakeholders, e.g. Brands, Sales, Commercial, Risk Management, and HQ. The role holder is expected to use their initiative and is encouraged to discover new ways to make the RV processes more efficient, resulting in added value to RVSF members and other colleagues where possible. Accurate documentation is essential, with procedures kept up-to-date, and published on NETconsent in line with deadlines.

The role holder will support Asset Risk management with regular and adhoc data requests from our International Residual Value Management (IRVM) colleagues in HQ. Requests range from supplying latest RVs for a model, or basket of comparable models, to analysing and calculating indicative RVs for new models that could be up to 2 years from entering the market. This provides them with a vital view of product positioning relative to current models and other markets.

You will prepare and distribute the pack for the monthly RV Setting Forum meeting, ensuring latest data and commentaries are included and captured ahead of each meeting.

Key Challenges

  • RV-setting can be complex with lots of different data points to analyse, particularly in a volatile market.
  • Stakeholders can challenge RV decisions and outcomes so persuasive and influencing skills are important to gain buy-in.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Educated in subjects including Mathematics, Business Studies, and Economics are desirable.

Skills and Personal Characteristics Required

  • Proven experience of technical report production and data analysis, in particular where recommendations have been made, and changes implemented, based on your analysis rather than purely producing data outputs.
  • Time management and being able to cope under pressure are vital traits.
