Register Your Interest - Brand Performance & Insight Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

The Brand Development Undergraduate is a critical team member with the overall purpose of providing management information and insight that supports the wider brand management team to manage the relationship between brand and VWFS by using data and insight to drive mutual business opportunities.

The undergraduate will also perform a variety of other tasks and duties including supporting the organisation of team meetings and events. There is also the opportunity to support business wide projects and activities such as new Model Launches and Quarterly Brand Event Calendars.

The Brand Development Undergraduate reports into a Brand Development Manager and has exposure to other undergraduates, senior members of the department, stakeholders in the wider organisation and our colleagues at Volkswagen Group.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead reporting and insight within brand management and be the key contact for brand management reporting that delivers accurate and concise insight for VWG colleagues, the department and wider business.
  • Be responsible for checking accuracy of data including completing checks and 4eye to maintain integrity of information supplied.
  • Ensure reports are delivered in a timely fashion that meet the deadlines set by the department.
  • Be the lead contact on analysis tools including Tableau and business objects to support the wider team data analysis and insight development.
  • As well as the delivery of reports the undergraduate also has responsibility for developing, maintaining and managing data sources, and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and adapt reports to suit changing business needs.
  • Presenting information and findings to senior stakeholders to deliver key messages and findings to support business decisions.
  • Working regularly and closely with senior management on key strategic topics including market competitors and other projects which involve working across multiple departments and stakeholders to develop and deliver new initiatives.
  • Supporting with the organisation and planning key team events in conjunction with other team members.
  • Managing an all-Brand Event Calendar to update and share with wider brand management team, campaigns and sales.
  • Be responsible for the internal PR of all Volkswagen Group Model launches, including engagement with Internal Comms, Volkswagen Group Product Managers, and our wider business

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

  • Daily interactions with brand development managers to learn and develop in role and learn about the brand management function as well as wider VWFS operations
  • Regular interactions with the Brand Development Team, Brand Managers and the Brand Relationship Director
  • Project Based work opportunities within the year to work with your fellow undergrad cohort
  • Weekly interactions with VWG colleagues on model launches and ad hoc activity

Decision Making Scope

  • Improving reporting and insight process to deliver more accuracy and reduce timings.
  • Managing own workload to meet deadlines and department requirements.
  • Learning about VWFS whilst in role to identify areas of interest and development.
  • Improve communications regarding Model Launch internal comms process to inform and educate the wider VWFS business

Key Challenges

  • Managing complex sets of data from different sources and bringing these together in a coherent manager.
  • Building relationships as often reporting relies on other areas of the business to provide data to enable reports to be delivered.
  • Working in a role where there is limited routine. This can range from having to adjust a working day to focus on something with immediate importance to managing day to day reporting deadlines.
  • Prioritisation as there can be multiple demands from the team and other stakeholders.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Ideally studying a business, economic, mathematics or administrative/analytical degree
  • Ideally previous experience of working in a team either through work or university
  • Ideally, experience of using data analysis tools such as Tableau, Excel either through work or university
  • Experience of working in an office environment and MS Office would be beneficial
  • Experience of using programmes including Excel and PowerPoint. Experience and knowledge of Tableau would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Interest in data analysis and using data to inform decisions would be beneficial

  • Be organised and structured with the ability to plan ahead and prioritise.
  • Being able to demonstrate responsibility and be trusted to manage sensitive business data and information.
  • Confident and being comfortable working with senior managers.
  • Team player who understands team goals and help the team achieve overall objectives.
  • Interest in automotive and how customers finance car/vans today and in future would be beneficial.
  • Creativity and idea generation to help solve problems and identify opportunity to improve ways of working.
  • Proactive attitude when approaching with the ability to drive forward actions under your own initiative.
  • Stakeholder management that develops positive working relationships and be confident in communicating with a range of stakeholders.
  • Being resilient as often tasks and projects take time and rework.
