Primary Purpose of the Job

The Finance Operations team are motivated to deliver exceptional service to our internal customer and retailer customer base; responsible for performing all transactional, daily critical tasks across various processes. Operational excellence is a key driver, being able to meet daily deadlines, provide quality and accurate data to measure performance and identify process improvements is fundamental to the success of the team. During your time at Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) your focus will be within the Accounts Receivable team to develop your skills & gain experience surrounding processes which impact VWFS’s customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Reconciliation of sales ledger balance sheet accounts relating to Rent a Car and customer portfolio.
  • Investigation and resolution of both Net Debt and Unmatched Cash transactions within agreed targets
  • Identifying the refund of customer transactions within defined refund rules
  • Ensure balance sheet and customer account integrity to support the Customer Accounts Manager in liaising with internal and external auditors, demonstrating a robust control mechanism exists for customer accounts.
  • Active liaison with other departments to understand all aspects as to why transactions can occur on customer accounts, ensuring the resolution of exceptions within the agreed timescale.
  • Build technical knowledge of the Contract Management System, SAP FI and Excel whilst also improving product knowledge.
  • Utilising robust root cause analysis techniques, identify process enhancements and participate in delivering specific training programs within VWFS operational areas to correct and prevent reoccurrence.
  • Constantly seek to improve ways of working within the team, sharing knowledge, experience, best practice
  • Co-author and analyse business issues as they arise to generate Business Requirements Documents and Change Requests
  • Provide UAT skills where required and assist Developers when requested.
  • Update all procedural documentation in line with Net Consent.
  • Engage with the team’s cultural values and support the long-term strategic vision of VWFS and Finance by working collaboratively to meet our business objectives and deliver operational excellence.

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

This role will work closely with the customer facing Front Office departments Mobility, Customer Operations and Fleet in ensuring the quality and accuracy of data on customer accounts is paramount.

Decision Making Scope

Ability to interpret financial data and convert findings to influence decisions to business areas into recommendations and actions to ensure customer account integrity · Investigating and identifying the right cause of action to resolve net debt and unmatched cash on customer accounts · When an issue has not been resolved in an adequate time frame and requires escalation to line manager to support resolution

Key Challenges

  • Understanding the interaction and impact of subsidiary systems on the main accounting systems to ensure Customer account and system integrity.
  • Investigate transactional information across multiple VWFS IT Systems to resolve complex customer and balance sheet queries.
  • Ensuring accuracy of reconciling balance sheet accounts and proactive to ensure prompt resolution of queried items
  • Stakeholder management to achieve the best outcome for both the customer and the company.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Ideally a minimum of 4 GCSE’s C and above including Maths & English
  • A desire to study for an accounting qualification.
  • Proficient with Microsoft applications
