Register Your Interest - Sales Performance Insights Placement
Primary Purpose of the Job
This is an analytical role working in the Sales Development function of the Retail Sales team. Our purpose is to support field and senior colleagues in Sales as they work with the UK-wide retailer network to maximise Key Performance Indicator (KPI) results.
The Sales Performance Insight Undergraduate works alongside the Sales Performance Insight Analyst and reports to the Sales Performance Insight Manager. They will support the Sales team through reporting, query management and process optimisation tasks, utilising tools such as Salesforce and Tableau.
During your placement year you will have opportunities to build your personal and professional skills in a collaborative environment, specifically including:
- Knowledge and specialisation in KPIs and factors that drive sales activity
- Technical ability to design and build using data visualisation software (including data quality checks)
- Problem solving and attention to detail
- Stakeholder management across a large team of c. 45 including Sales Support, Regional Development Consultants, Sales Compliance Consultants, Heads of Sales, and the Retail Sales Director
- Process optimisation and automation, including technical solutions in Visual Basic, cooperation solutions via cross-department alignment
Main Responsibilities
1. Tableau Development & Sales Performance
- Develop an understanding on key performance indicators in Sales and the factors that drive them.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency in the data that is being handled, work with the Sales Performance Insight team to troubleshoot and correct issues.
- Support the Sales Performance team in developing and producing standardised reporting packs and provide ad hoc data analysis or performance overviews upon request. E.g. Opportunity calculations, slides or alternative views for KPIs.
- Provide support to Salesforce/Tableau/Chatter end users on general queries and become a central point for feedback collation to make future developments and improvements suggestions
- Assist the team in launching retailer targets, refreshing sales forecasts, and distributing the information to key stakeholders.
- Responsibility for updating and maintaining regular daily/weekly/monthly tableau reports from data sourcing to publication
- Keep all Tableau user guides up to date and stored in a central location
2. Sales Transformation & Strategic Objectives:
- Ensure all relevant strategic sales developments are communicated to stakeholders utilising various platforms such as Sales Broadcast, Teams, Outlook, and Chatter function on Salesforce to support in field team engagement. The role holder will act as Strategic Sales Development internal public relations when new enablers for the field team are developed.
- Support sales strategic projects activity by updating status trackers, capturing key actions, and organising pre-levelling and workstream meetings (New Finance Platform, Retailer centric developments, Salesforce, Mobility, Used car growth, VT programme etc.)
- Work with the field team to collate feedback and make suggestions for improvements, plan and agree actions with the Sales Performance Insight Manager and implement them.
3. Salesforce Data Management and Administration
- Maintain standard retailer database records in Salesforce and in support of key projects such as e-Commerce. Maintain back-end processes of Salesforce e.g. databases and visiting reporting and flag any non-adherence
- Set up new retailer outlets, mark terminated sites as inactive and administer mergers and acquisitions within Salesforce
- Produce user reporting packs for sales management team review including Visit reporting analytics
- Use Salesforce to manage quarterly activity campaigns and support the SPIM by updating activities and dashboards and providing reporting when requested
- Work with the teams to audit existing data and make recommendations for improvements
4. Sales Support
- Assisting the sales support function to manage workflow together with our internal departments and provide timely and effective resolution to queries.
- Daily categorising of sales support cases awaiting assignment.
- Ownership of queries around Deposit Contributions, maintaining existing process and recommending/ implementing improvements to the flow of work as required.
Principal Contacts / Working Relationships
Daily interactions with the Sales Development team to provide operational support and updates on ongoing workload activity – the undergraduate will be required to keep stakeholders informed of ongoing activities and a regular status update regarding progress and challenges.
- Weekly/Monthly meeting with Sales subject matter experts (SMEs) on Salesforce and Tableau development.
- Develop meaningful working relationships with all sales colleagues, key stakeholders, and retailer partners to provide effective helpdesk support.
- Engage with key internal departments such as Brand Management, Business Insights, Customer Service and New Business Centre in support of projects as mentioned above.
Decision Making Scope
- When to escalate to provide effective query resolution
- Proactive planning approach to tasks and main responsibilities: decide on the best approach to deal with an upcoming task by deciding which information is needed, where it is best to obtain them, how to present to maximise the impact of the message
- Assess and prioritise own workload: actively update line manager and project sponsors in case of conflicting deadlines
Key Challenges
- Ability to assist in working on non-routine topics that are changing which will require a creative and solution focussed thinking
- Dealing with new systems effectively i.e. Salesforce and Tableau
- Ability to think creatively and under time pressure to resolve complex problems
Education, Training and Experience
- Excellent written and spoken communication capabilities
- IT literate with the ability to grasp new systems/ skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience in using above to analyse data and present findings is desirable.
- Strong interest in the financial services, automotive and mobility industry
- Studying towards a degree in Business Management, Economics, Mathematics, or any relevant analytical or business-focused field.

- Ability to work with large amount of data and know how to use tools to ensure accuracy. Prior foundation level knowledge of Microsoft Excel would be highly advantageous
