Register Your Interest - Pricing Analyst Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

This position works in a small team reporting directly to the Remarketing Insights Manager. The Pricing Analyst is responsible for providing bespoke pricing on circa £1billion worth of assets sold annually.

The Pricing Analyst proactively uses their skills in manipulating company data to reveal underlying trends and insight that will aid the accurate pricing of remarketing vehicles in a way that maximises vehicle disposal values, and stock churn.

Main Responsibilities

Pricing

  • Undertake analysis of market trends and historic performance to assist the pricing team with the setting of vehicle values, considering all factors that could impact the value, whilst adhering to the requirements for the separation of pricing & sales functions and individual authority levels.
  • Manually price exception vehicles for the driversales channel ensuring pricing is reflective of all relevant factors such as specification, age and mileage
  • Assist the Pricing team with the monitoring and updating of pricing within our Pricing Model, helping to ensure that maximum values are achieved for our vehicles.
  • Review performance of the driversales channel and give summaries including recommendations to justify pricing methodologies, with scope to recommend changes if supported by data.

Reporting and Analysis

  • Responsibility for the production and Management of MI using Tableau.
  • Monitoring of internal VWFS data to obtain market trends and ensure that projected fluctuations in the market and returns volumes are understood and reflected within the pricing model.
  • Industry wide benchmarking, - collation & analysis of industry wide performance statistics to benchmark VWFS performance, improve remarketing processes and ensure that VWFS are leaders in the leasing sector.
  • Ad-hoc reporting tasks set by the Remarketing Data Insight Manager to support current Pricing priorities
  • Monthly creation and submission of UK disposal data to VWG and HQ.
  • Reviewing and updating local remarketing procedure documents where necessary

Remarking Data Insights Manager

  • Line manager: day to day interaction, work closely together on used car pricing and remarketing strategies to ensure a balance of stock holding and values.

Pricing and Modelling Analysts:

  • Day to day interaction, supporting BAU reporting activities and Pricing Model calculations.

Decision Making Scope

  • Authority to set prices using the vehicle pricing procedure and adjust in line with vehicle condition, age, mileage, trims, sales channel, no. of previous sales, exceptional circumstances and market conditions c.£1.3bn stock (100k units).
  • Respond to reasonable data requests from the business with a level of autonomy.

Key Challenges

  • Significant growth in the VWFS portfolios over recent years is due to result in considerable growth in the volume of returning vehicles. Will need to adapt quickly to emerging challenges and a changing market to ensure the pricing model remains accurate and potential risks are identified and mitigated.
  • Forecasting the impact of increased used BEV volume, taking into account changing government policies and changing consumer sentiment.
  • Ensure all Pricing processes adhere to the Remarketing Guidelines and authority matrices.
  • Pricing methodology complexities require advance problem solving, analytical and numerical skills

Education, Training and Experience

  • Studying towards a Business/Economics related degree.
  • Proven strong skills in Microsoft Excel is essential.

  • Developing analytical skills with the ability to demonstrate systematic thought processes.
  • High attention to detail, quality, consistency and accuracy.
