Register Your Interest - Risk Management Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

Our Risk management team works with the data the business produces to identify and monitor risks, creating and delivering reports for the executive management, much of it in line with regulatory requirement. As such our team has responsibility for credit risk management and we are a key part in ensuring the financial success of VWFS.

The team also often support other business areas with other bespoke ad-hoc reporting.

Should you be successful you will be responsible for the accurate production of credit risk reporting of the VWFS portfolios on a daily and monthly basis as well as conducting analysis on changes to the portfolio.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the production of all daily credit risk reporting for our Corporate customers.
  • Support the production of the monthly and quarterly reporting and support the submissions of the monitoring templates as requested by HQ in Germany.
  • Production, monitoring and analysis of Key Performance Indicators (monthly) and add commentary relating to the risk status of the portfolio.
  • Analyse and investigate changes and movements in reported financial figures.
  • Production of defined reports to support the Corporate non-dealer and Truck and Bus risk meetings with the appropriate business units such as Fleet supply.
  • Provision analysis to support the risk and finance departments.
  • Responsible for the production of Credit and Lending Risk Committee monthly data manipulation and PowerPoint presentation.
  • Responsible for data reconciliation between the two provision models with different accounting methods.
  • Aiding the production of an economic forecasting tool which predicts how the changing UK economy will effect Key Performance Indicators of the VWFS portfolio.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the Risk Management function and the Credit and Asset Risk Director.

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

  • Risk Team – Provide accurate reports in accordance with deadlines which feed into reports and data models the other members of the team are responsible for.
  • Senior Management Team within Risk Management – Communicating movements and trends within the reporting
  • Compliance & Risk Control – Support system continuity planning as well as procedure robustness and updates
  • IT including Small Change and Project Teams – Supporting system and reporting changes as they are required and correcting technical issues

  • To identify and champion opportunities that can improve processes
  • Identify and report movements and trends in the reporting

Key Challenges

  • Organising own workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Confidence to challenge report outputs & suggest potential process improvements.
  • Having a commercial awareness of our business and how it is impacted by economic and political developments
  • Understanding how the different business units interact
  • Understanding the impact of other departments on Risk reporting and forecasting as well as the other way around

Education, Training and Experience

  • Highly numerate/ proven mathematical skills – able to interpret reports and understand the “story” behind the numbers
  • Good knowledge of Excel and willingness to learn other data reporting programmes
  • An interest in Finance or Financial Risk
  • Studying towards a degree, preferably Economics or Business related
  • Experience in using Python is desired
