Register Your Interest - Credit Risk Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

The Credit Risk team are responsible for developing strategies which protect VWFS (UK) against credit losses resulting from customer non-payment. This includes the lending strategy for new credit applications as well as strategies for ongoing customer management and risk assessment, through to collections and debt recovery.

The role of the Credit Risk Undergraduate is to support the Credit Analytics Manager

& Credit Risk Analyst as well as the General Manger with the implementation and testing of VWFS’ credit risk strategies, as well as to monitor the effectiveness of these strategies through the production of regular analysis and reporting.

Main Responsibilities

  • Production of KPI’s and executive summary reporting, including performance reports for the underwriting team and reporting pack for the Credit and Lending Risk Committee.
  • Conduct business testing when implementing new or enhancing existing Credit Risk strategies, e.g. testing new credit scorecards which are used to predict the likelihood of new and existing customers entering into default.
  • Provide Risk support to VWFS strategic projects, predominantly business testing of new systems and products.
  • Ad hoc reporting and analysis to support the Credit Risk function and the wider business.
  • Support the wider Risk team to investigate and explain any movements in the retail portfolio and monthly credit risk provision.
  • Support the Risk Manager with the development of credit scorecards and credit risk mitigation strategies, primarily data extraction and interrogation using Excel, Tableau and other bespoke systems.
  • Production of minutes for the monthly Credit and Lending Risk Committee.

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

  • IT including Project and Product Teams – Provide test and subject matter expert (SME) support and SME to project and product teams
  • External suppliers - Working with external systems and service providers to support the implementation of projects within agreed timelines
  • Risk Management Team – Supporting the wider Risk team to explain observed shifts in the portfolio
  • Senior Management Team within Risk Management – Communicating movements and trends in reporting and turning data analysis into a “story”
  • New Business / Collections - Liaise with key stakeholders of customer-facing business units to provide reporting

  • Identify and agree solutions for the resolution of test defects
  • Identify and report movements and trends in reporting

Education, Training and Experience

  • Studying towards a degree, preferably Economics or Business related
  • Good knowledge of Excel and willingness to learn other data reporting programmes
  • Highly numerate/ proven mathematical skills – able to interpret reports and understand the “story” behind the numbers
  • An interest in Credit and Financial Risk
