Primary Purpose of the Job

The role supports those advising Volkswagen Financial Services in the UK who protect the business from regulatory and compliance risks.

It will involve working within a fast-paced environment to ensure that customer, strategic and business objectives are supported and delivered whilst regulatory and compliance risks are Identified, monitored and mitigated. The role itself covers a broad spectrum of commercial activities, including financial services regulation, corporate and retail finance, compliance monitoring, and corporate governance.

The role of the Compliance Undergraduate will allow the incumbent to learn a wide range of Compliance approaches, methods and disciplines and how these are interpreted as part of the wider Legal and Compliance Team.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintain a register of the changes to the regulatory landscape and communicate the changes to the relevant stakeholders across the business.
  • Support the Compliance team with summarising and assessing the impacts of changes by identifying the risks associated with the firm’s business activities.
  • Support the Compliance team with the management of the compliance policy inbox used for advising on compliance matters across the business.
  • Support the preparation of the monthly committee meeting pack by producing, managing and organising management information from stakeholders across the business.
  • To lead, organise and minute the Compliance Team meetings.
  • To attend and observe the monthly committee meeting.
  • Support the execution of a compliance monitoring review, through the three key stages, Scoping, Testing and Reporting. To develop awareness on how the business ensures its strategic and business objectives support customers, whilst adhering to regulatory standards.
  • Co-ordinating the completion of regulatory returns across the business as requested by the Financial Conduct Authority and VWFS AG.
  • Participate on key business projects, as required.
  • Organise team social events and activities.

Decision Making Scope

The role will be supervised in terms of the advice to the business but with autonomy in other areas.

Skills and Experience

  • Studying towards a Business/Law or other related degree, with the desire for a career in compliance.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of regulatory principles, sources and interpretation.
  • Good interpersonal and team player skills.
  • Resilient and self-motivated with the capability to work under own initiative.
  • Ability to learn and apply new or unfamiliar knowledge quickly.
  • Ability to carry out multiple tasks and prioritise workloads to plan and deliver work effectively.
  • Methodical, analytical and disciplined approach to work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and an ability to develop effective working relationships with a range of people.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent PC skills, especially MS Office applications such as PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
