Primary Purpose of the Job

Reporting to the Data Analytics & Insight Manager, the key purpose of this role is to deliver the standardised reporting suite and to work with a team of specialists to support the delivery of management information across Operations, Fleet and Commercial channels, providing reporting and analysis which is reliable, adds value, is easy to interpret and articulates a clear story which drives and informs leadership action.

The Data Analytics & Insight Undergraduate will be responsible for specific daily / weekly / monthly tasks and the ad-hoc delivery of Operations, Fleet & Commercial management information reporting outputs and contributing to the development of the quality and efficiency of reporting for the department.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop sound working relationships cross functionally and companywide to improve and then maintain data quality across the Risk department and the wider business.
  • Active involvement in all relevant projects understanding the impacts on reporting requirements to include requirement gathering, testing and implementation.
  • Proactively develop and continuously improve outputs to anticipate the future needs of Operations, Fleet and Commercial stakeholders.
  • Identify the right input sources and take ownership to deliver timely solutions and outputs which add value/meet the needs of stakeholders.
  • Be proficient in multiple systems in order to extract, combine and analyse relevant data.
  • Where appropriate, provide challenge and offer alternative solutions to stakeholders to drive optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure all relevant procedures give optimal effectiveness for all reporting related activity.
  • Gain a good foundation in the Tableau Suite (Desktop, Prep, Server) in order to extract, manipulate, visualise and output data.
  • Lead on team mailbox calls to allocate queries to relevant members of the team whilst managing respective emails.

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

  • Regular interactions with the Data Analytics & Insight (DA&I) team to provide support and updates on ongoing workload activity.
  • Develop meaningful working relationships with key departments around the business (across channels such as Operations, Fleet and Commercial).
  • Weekly meetings with respective Data Analytics & Insight Managers (and their teams) to go through objective setting, workload, challenges etc.

Decision Making Scope

  • Proactive planning approach to tasks and main responsibilities.
  • Decide on the best approach to deal tasks with deadline attached.
  • Working with fellow undergraduate to decide on workload schedules for their respective daily / weekly / monthly tasks.
  • Go through and look to make amends to processes / procedures that they are currently using for their tasks to make it more efficient for them / other users / new UG intake.
  • Train and develop the new UG intake so they are up to speed on their upcoming tasks / responsibilities.
  • Assess and prioritise own workload whilst updating line manager in case of conflicting deadlines.

Key Challenges

  • High paced environment with frequent changes
  • The volume of work to complete during month end whilst contending with normal daily / weekly tasks
  • Becoming proficient in systems and software used for data inputting and analysis i.e Tableau, Business Objects, Salesforce, Respond, CMS, Leaselink, i247 etc
  • Being able to think proactively in order to make tasks more efficient
  • A variety of different stakeholders to manage due to the nature of the role and reports released from the team

Education, Training and Experience

  • Studying towards a Business, Scientific or Numerate related degree.
  • Advanced PC literacy: Microsoft Office skills especially Excel for reporting requirements and knowledge/experience of other system based analytical software.
  • Experience with Tableau is desirable.

  • Ability to manage stakeholders at varying levels and operating within/delivering through cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Strong self and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated and comfortable with both independent work and as a part of a team
  • Proactive attitude to tasks in order to find inefficiencies and better ways of working.
  • Confident to take on new tasks and volunteer for ad-hoc activities that come to the team.
  • Ability to work a large amount of data and be able to use the required tools to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Curious and inquisitive approach to the work they undertake, not being afraid to ask questions or challenge existing processes.
