Register Your Interest - Marketing Placement

Primary Purpose of the Job

Assist the Marketing Managers with their projects, ensuring that activity is delivered on time and within budget. Support with communications, asset review and updates, digital marketing, and reporting to promote our finance and aftersales products.

Main Responsibilities

There are two vacancies for a “Marketing Undergraduate”, the Product Marketing role will be more focussed on points 2 & 3, and the Digital Marketing role will be more focussed on points 4 & 5. However, both roles will include activity within all six responsibilities.

As a key member of the Marketing team, our Marketing Undergraduate has a range of responsibilities including:

  1. Project Delivery – Create clear and concise briefs for marketing jobs. Project manage these through content creation, proof reading and stakeholder approval. Through effective agency and supplier management, ensure tasks are delivered on time and to budget. Work with the Marketing Manager to deliver accurate reporting and present back to stakeholders, sharing insights as appropriate.
  2. Brand and Product Marketing – Support the Marketing Managers in the delivery of their brand and product materials.
  3. Communications – Support the Marketing Managers with preparing retailer facing communications and customer facing content, such as website and point of sale (POS) copy, managing the approval process through to publication.
  4. Digital Marketing –Support with online journeys and channels, online advertising, and website management to ensure we are continuing to put our best foot forward on digital platforms. This includes user experience (UX) analysis, search engine optimisation (SEO) activity, delivery of social and paid media campaigns, updating website content, and reporting.
  5. Customer Insight – Using analytics tools to review campaign and website performance and provide recommendations on how to improve the customer journey.
  6. General support - Work closely with the Marketing Managers and their Brand contacts to support on a variety of tasks, from campaign reporting to presenting at meetings. This will provide exposure to everything the team is responsible for.

Please note that this role is not suitable for an applicant looking to get experience in creating or designing assets or content. We outsource all design work to a creative agency.

Principal Contacts / Working Relationships

  • Primary working relationship will be with the Marketing Managers within the team. Work closely with many of the managers, depending on their capacity to deliver and support with activity.
  • Opportunities to work with the other undergraduates in the team on a project, which would then be presented back to the team.
  • A key relationship with our design and strategy marketing agency. Work with them to provide new briefs, review their outputs, and manage any amends and/or approvals.
  • Work with third-party insurers and administrators to obtain approval on assets created by the brands and/or produced with our agencies.
  • Work with brand marketing contacts to brief in changes to their assets (including websites) and approve their content.

Decision Making Scope

  • First line of approval on aftersales assets.
  • Review customer journeys and data analytics to present new opportunities and optimisations.
  • Act as brand guardian ensuring VWFS and Brand corporate identities (CI) are followed correctly. Internally, be a main point of contact for all VWFS CI related queries.

Key Challenges

  • Prioritising and organising your workload, particularly since you’ll receive requests from multiple Marketing Managers. Ensure transparency with your time and keep colleagues updated on your progress.
  • A wide range of activities to support on, you’ll need to be adaptable. Need to learn quickly and plan your time accordingly.
  • Have effective stakeholder management. Speak to many different people, internally and externally, you will need to ensure you develop strong and positive relationships. Regular communication with stakeholders will build trust, increase collaboration, and raise your personal profile.
  • Keep up-to-date with your knowledge on FCA and insurance regulatory standards relating to financial promotions.

Education, Training and Experience

  • Studying towards a Marketing related degree
  • Strong literacy is a must
  • PC literate, especially in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
