Overview of Role
Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
My job roles at IBM has varied. I started in business change and enablement: putting training material together and creating scripts and modules. I then played the role of a business analyst and aided in team management: writing user stories, gathering requirements, financial and resource management. I have also played a marketing anaylst role where I have created marketing materials, editorial calenders, wrote newsletters, started and ran a Yammer community and much more.
Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
I was given a lot of responsibility and independence, which is what has made the placement enjoyable. I felt that as the placement progressed, I felt more and more independence and ability to bring my own perspective to things.

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
Many new skills: Agile Ways of working, how to use iMovie, write scripts, write newsletters, how to do weekly financials for a worldwide team, resource management, create marketing material, marketing stratergy, how to use Microsoft Sway.

I recieved a lot of guidance from a lot the team who were always ready to help me. Whether it was a simple or more complex dilema, I always knew there were people who allowed me to reach out to them.

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
I think it is a friendly culture with a nice atmosphere. Everyone in the office are free to reach out to and seem willing to help.

To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
I enjoyed the placement year because of how much I have learnt. I didn't anticipate to have an opportunity to do this many different roles and feel fortunate to be able to.

I feel fortunate to have come here because of how much of I've learn't. Don't worry if you are not sure about everything in your first few weeks, everything will make sense in time.
