Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
It depends on the role I am given on the day as each day is different. It can include either being in pre screen, being a dispenser, dealing with collections and fitting appointments or being at front desk.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I enjoy my role to a high extent as it allows me to learn a lot every day which is good for me as I am also able to apply this learning into the workplace and learn from any mistakes made.it also provides me with a career pathway aligned with lots of options to choose from.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
I continuously am and have learnt lots of new skills every day during my apprenticeship from fitting, adjustments, taking dispensing measurements, working the oct and other pre test machines and so much more.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
My programme is very well structured and organised thanks to my apprentice coaches who highly assist with this. This allows everything to fall in place and allow for extra time on any deadlines if needed.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

4/5
I receive a lot of support from my apprentice coaches and the lead optometrist at my store. They are the key players in my Specsavers career and I am very grateful for their support and encouragement through everything.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I receive a lot of support through regularly scheduled teams meetings which allow us to review my progress and ask any questions if I have any. We also set new goals and objectives and try to plan everything in ample time to help with my progress.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
A lot as I always find it helpful to know the theory and then apply that theory into the workplace to not only deepen my understanding but also further my progress within my career.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

1/5
Unfortunately not for me as my store tends to be quite busy and I don’t think we have enough staffing to allow for me to be involved with extra curricular activities/event.
