Summer Analytst Review

In my role as a Summer Intern, I assisted analysts and my team on jobs that will make their day-to-day work more efficient. This included a vast range of jobs, spanning tracking and responding to emails, performing basic financial modelling, creating graphs and charts, formatting presentations and IMs, and supporting various admin tasks.

During my ten weeks at Rothschild & Co, I was given a substantial level of responsibility. By my seventh week, I was independently managing the day-to-day aspects of a live deal. I was also given the opportunity to work on financial models, present my ideas, and was treated very much as a full time member of the team. This level of trust and involvement provided valuable hands-on experience and really accelerated my learning experience.

I believe my communication skills have improved significantly. This was through constantly tracking and speaking with lenders as well as growing in confidence to explain my ideas to the team. Moreover, my technical skills, such as Excel and modelling, have also improved greatly due to a substantial amount of time spend on excel and in the models. My overall understanding of the sector has increased considerably due to the excellent level of teaching and support provided by the team. As a result, my confidence, communication, and technical skills have all developed substantially.

The team at Rothschild has absolutely exceeded my expectations in terms of support and guidance. The team was always approachable and willing to answer any questions I had. They consistently took the time to explain new concepts in a clear and understandable way, and I never felt hesitant to seek clarification or ask for help. As a result, I have seen substantial growth in both my technical abilities and overall confidence. Under their guidance and support, I became increasingly independent and capable of taking ownership of my work. I cannot express how grateful I am for the support this team has provided over the past ten weeks and what an incredible experience they have made this.

Coming into Investment Banking, I was a little worried that people wouldn't be approachable, but this has absolutely not been the case at Rothschild & Co. Every single person has been incredibly kind and helpful, and they are genuinely invested in ensuring that their interns have the best possible experience. Moreover, they have created an incredible learning environment in which I have always felt supported and comfortable in approaching anyone on the team for help.
This extends all the way up to the Managing Directors, who each took the time to sit down with me individually for a coffee chat, which I really appreciated. Overall, the culture at Rothschild & Co is brilliant, and it has been a pleasure to be part of such a supportive and collaborative team.

I have absolutely loved my past ten weeks at Rothschild & Co. For all the reasons mentioned above, I have learned more than I could have imagined, met some incredible people whom I am sure I will stay in touch with long into the future, and felt truly supported throughout my time here. It has been an invaluable experience, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity.
