Global Advisory Summer Intern Review

I completed my summer internship in the Leveraged Finance team within Global Financing Solutions, part of Rothschild & Co’s Global Advisory division. On a day-to-day basis, I supported live and prospective leveraged finance and debt advisory deals through company and market research, financial analysis, modelling and the preparation of client presentation materials. I also gained exposure to different financing structures, lender considerations and transaction processes while working closely with colleagues across the team.

Yes, I was given a meaningful level of responsibility throughout my internship in the Leveraged Finance team. I contributed directly to financial analysis, modelling, research and client materials, with ownership of specific tasks and regular feedback from colleagues. The level of responsibility increased as the internship progressed, allowing me to develop both my technical skills and confidence.

The internship allowed me to develop a broad range of technical and professional skills. I strengthened my financial analysis, modelling and presentation skills, while building a much deeper understanding of leveraged finance products, credit considerations and transaction processes. I also improved my attention to detail, ability to manage deadlines and confidence in communicating my work. The regular feedback I received helped me make meaningful progress throughout the programme.

I received a high level of support and guidance throughout the internship. The team was approachable and took the time to explain tasks, provide context and give constructive feedback on my work. I was encouraged to ask questions while also being given the independence to take ownership of tasks. Regular guidance from colleagues at different levels of seniority helped me develop quickly and improve both the quality and efficiency of my work.

The culture was collaborative, supportive and professional. The team was approachable and made a genuine effort to involve interns in meaningful work, while providing regular guidance and feedback. Although the environment was fast-paced, there was a strong sense of teamwork and I felt well integrated throughout the internship.

I thoroughly enjoyed the internship. Being able to participate in live deals and given meaningful work and responsibilities was a great learning experience. Also, the team was very involved in ensuring I developed the necessary skills and knowledge in the Leveraged Finance space so that I could be successful in my work.
