Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at IBM?

Working at IBM has been an incredibly positive experience. The organisation genuinely invests in employee development through continuous learning opportunities, mentorship, and exposure to innovative technologies. There is a strong culture of collaboration and inclusion, and employees are encouraged to bring new ideas to the table. I've learned a tremendous amount and have been able to grow my skills while contributing to meaningful client outcomes.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

As a Brand Sales Specialist, my main responsibilities include identifying new business opportunities, building and maintaining client relationships, understanding customer needs, and aligning solutions that help clients achieve their business objectives. A key part of the role is collaborating with technical specialists, business partners, and internal stakeholders to develop and execute sales strategies that drive business growth.
The elements of the role I enjoy most are engaging with customers to understand their challenges, helping them navigate technology decisions, and seeing the tangible impact that the right solution can have on their organisation. I also enjoy the continuous learning aspect of the role, particularly staying up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends. The variety of working with different clients, industries, and opportunities makes every day different and provides continuous opportunities for personal and professional growth.

The company provides access to industry-leading technologies, training programmes, and a global network of highly skilled professionals. I've particularly valued the collaborative culture, the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients and industries, and the encouragement to continuously build new skills. 5/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to IBM?

My advice would be to take the time to understand IBM's values, culture, and business strategy before starting the interview process. Be prepared to demonstrate not only your technical or professional skills, but also your ability to collaborate, learn continuously, and adapt to change. During onboarding, be proactive in building your network, asking questions, and taking advantage of the extensive learning resources available. IBM offers a wealth of opportunities for growth, and those who are curious, open to learning, and willing to take initiative will get the most out of the experience.
