Summer Analyst Review

I completed a summer internship within Rothschild & Co's Real Estate team, supporting both M&A and Debt Advisory projects. My day-to-day responsibilities included financial analysis, market research, preparing client presentations/investment memoranda and supporting live transactions.

Yes. I was given meaningful responsibility from an early stage, contributing directly to live projects and client deliverables. This included preparing analysis for investment memoranda and financial modelling.

Yes. The internship significantly developed my financial analysis, valuation and presentation skills, particularly within the real estate sector. I also improved my proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, FactSet and Bloomberg, while gaining a much stronger understanding of M&A processes, debt advisory, capital markets and transaction execution. In addition, working closely with senior bankers helped strengthen my commercial awareness.

The team provided a good balance between guidance and independence. I was trusted to take ownership of my work, but there was always someone available to provide feedback and help me improve. Regular feedback from analysts and associates helped me build confidence and develop professionally over the course of the internship.

One aspect that stood out was the amount of exposure interns received. Even as an intern, I was included in team meetings, client discussions and project work, which made me feel like a valued member of the team. Senior bankers were generous with their time and encouraged questions, creating an environment where learning.

I thoroughly enjoyed my internship. The work was varied, and I gained exposure to live transactions while working closely with experienced professionals. It was an excellent learning experience that further strengthened my interest in investment banking and real estate.
