Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at IBM?

My experience at IBM has been extremely positive for several reasons. Firstly, from day one, I have been client-facing and actively involved in the sales process, giving me valuable exposure to real-world business challenges and opportunities. Despite being on the graduate scheme, I have been trusted with the independence and responsibility of a full-time seller, including leading my own set of accounts and managing customer relationships. In addition, the support from the team has been exceptional. Everyone is approachable and willing to take time out of their busy schedules to provide guidance, answer questions, or work through challenges together. This collaborative culture has enabled me to learn quickly, build confidence in my role, and contribute meaningfully to the team's objectives.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

The main responsibilities of my role include managing customer relationships, identifying sales opportunities, supporting clients throughout the sales process, and working with internal teams to deliver the best outcomes for customers.
What I enjoy most is the client-facing aspect of the role and the level of ownership I've been given. Managing my own accounts as a graduate has been both rewarding and a great learning experience, and I enjoy working with a supportive team that is always willing to help and share knowledge.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?

Yes

Why?

Absolutely. I would highly recommend IBM to a friend, particularly someone who is looking for early responsibility, strong career development opportunities, and a supportive team environment.
From day one, I have been trusted with client-facing responsibilities and given ownership of my own accounts, which has accelerated my professional growth. At the same time, I've been surrounded by colleagues who are always willing to offer guidance and support, creating a collaborative and inclusive culture. The combination of trust, learning opportunities, and teamwork has made my experience at IBM extremely rewarding.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

4/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to IBM?

My advice would be to be yourself and show a genuine willingness to learn. IBM values curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving just as much as technical knowledge, so don't worry if you don't have all the answers.
During onboarding, take advantage of the support network around you and don't be afraid to ask questions. There is a huge amount to learn, but everyone is willing to help. Being proactive, building relationships early, and getting involved in opportunities outside your immediate role will help you get the most out of your experience at IBM.
