Overview of the Role

Overall, how would you describe your experience at IBM?

My experience at IBM has been amazing. From the beginning, I have felt very supported and welcomed by everyone around me. I received the relevant training, including in-person sessions that helped me build my confidence and understand the role. The people I have worked with have been incredibly supportive and welcoming, and I couldn’t have asked for a better working environment.

What are the main responsibilities of the role and which elements of the role do you enjoy the most?

My main responsibility is producing proof of concepts for clients and demonstrating how different solutions can address their needs. One of the parts I enjoy most is conducting playbacks with clients, as it gives me the opportunity to get their feedback and understand how we can further develop the solution.
I also really enjoy the collaborative team environment. Working alongside solution architects, designers and other team members means I always feel supported and can learn from the different expertise within the team.

To what extent does your role give you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully and feel valued by your team?

5/5
My role gives me a lot of flexibility and the opportunity to contribute in ways that are meaningful to me. I have the freedom to do outreach, create new opportunities and build relationships with people across the business. I also feel that people are approachable and willing to engage with me, which makes me feel valued and trusted within the team.

How does your compensation package - including perks & benefits - fairly remunerate you for the work you do?

5/5
I feel that my compensation package and benefits are very good and provide valuable additional support. One of the benefits I have found particularly useful is IBM Rewards, which I use regularly and have found to be a great perk. I use it regularly and have found it to be a useful way of making the most of the benefits available to me as an IBM employee.

How well do you feel the role is preparing you for your future career?

5/5
I feel the role is preparing me very well for my future career by giving me a strong grounding in technical skills. I am gaining practical experience through working on real client projects and developing a better understanding of how technology and solutions are applied in a professional environment. I also am being taught the soft skills like pitching through 6 weeks of global sales school.

How would you rate the extent to which you were developing new or existing skills through formal training and your day-to-day role?

5/5
I would rate this very highly. I have benefited from formal training, but a significant amount of my learning has also come from being able to learn on the job. Working on real projects, creating proof of concepts, collaborating with different roles and receiving feedback has allowed me to continuously develop both my technical and professional skills.

Experience & Company Culture

How is the support you receive?

5/5
I have received amazing support throughout my time at IBM. I was assigned a buddy who has been really helpful in helping me settle into the organisation, and I also have a mentor who I can go to whenever I have questions or need guidance. I feel very comfortable asking them anything, and they have both been approachable and supportive.
The onboarding week with our Foundation Manager was also particularly useful. It gave me a strong introduction to IBM, the role and the wider team, and helped me feel confident from the beginning. Overall, I feel very well supported by the people around me.

How is your work-life balance?

5/5
I would describe my work-life balance as very good. My typical working hours are around 9–5, which allows me to maintain a good balance between work and my personal life. Depending on the project, there can be periods where the workload feels stressful, but I find this manageable and feel that I have the flexibility and support to deal with it.
Overall, I feel that IBM provides a healthy and sustainable working environment.

What is the organisational culture, values and general atmosphere like?

5/5
I have found the culture at IBM to be very positive, inclusive and welcoming. There are lots of communities and Business Resource Groups (BRGs) that employees can get involved with, providing opportunities to connect with people from different backgrounds and with different interests.
I also think the hybrid working policy works well. I personally tend to come into the office around three times a week because I enjoy the social interaction and being able to collaborate with colleagues in person. At the same time, having the flexibility to work remotely is really valuable.

How would you rate IBM initiatives when it comes to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility?

How would you rate IBM CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives?

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?

Yes

Why?

I would definitely recommend IBM to a friend because I have had a very positive experience overall. I have felt supported from the beginning through training, onboarding, my buddy and mentor. The people and team culture are very welcoming, and I have had the opportunity to work on meaningful client projects while developing my technical and professional skills.
I also really value the flexibility of the role, the work-life balance, the hybrid working environment and the range of communities and opportunities available across IBM. Overall, I feel that IBM has provided me with a strong foundation for my future career and a great environment to learn and grow.

How well did the role match your expectations based on the recruitment process?

5/5

When considering the recruitment & onboarding process, have you any specific tips or advice you would give to others applying to IBM?

My main advice would be to be yourself throughout the recruitment process and show genuine enthusiasm for learning. I would also recommend researching IBM and understanding its values, as well as being prepared to talk about examples of teamwork, problem-solving and situations where you have taken initiative.
For onboarding, I would encourage new graduates to ask questions and make the most of their buddy, mentor and the people around them. Everyone is very approachable, so there is no need to be afraid to ask for support or clarification.
