Overview of Experience
Please give an overview of the insight and what was involved on a day-to-day basis.
The three-day Rothschild & Co Women’s Horizon Work Experience Programme provided an insight into the firm’s different areas of the business and the skills required for a career in financial services. Each day combined presentations and panel sessions with interactive activities, giving us the opportunity to hear directly from professionals across Global Advisory, Wealth Management and Five Arrows.
Alongside learning about the different divisions, we took part in sessions focused on networking, interviews and presentation skills. A key part of the programme was the Bankers Burrow group project, where we worked in teams to develop and pitch a business idea to a panel of bankers. We considered the market opportunity, strategy, financials, ESG considerations and potential challenges before presenting our idea. My team was fortunate to win the competition, which was a brilliant way to finish the programme.

What was it like understanding all about the business and potential roles available?
It was particularly valuable to gain a broader understanding of Rothschild & Co as a business and the range of career opportunities available within the firm. Hearing directly from professionals across Global Advisory, Wealth Management and Five Arrows helped me understand how the different divisions operate and the distinct roles and skills involved in each area.
I particularly enjoyed hearing about the experiences and career journeys of employees, as this gave a much more realistic perspective on what working at Rothschild & Co is like beyond simply reading about the different divisions. The programme also helped me appreciate how skills such as communication, teamwork, commercial awareness and problem-solving are applied in practice.
The opportunity to ask questions and interact with professionals throughout the three days made the experience especially insightful and helped me develop a clearer understanding of the potential career paths available within financial services.
