Transformation Intern Review

As a Transformation Intern, I worked closely with Operations and Projects teams to bring new developments to our Market Drayton site, ensuring that any gaps could be bridged during those processes. I attended meetings with both internal and external stakeholders, completed independent work and supported my team within the production facility when required.

During my placement, I was given responsibility to complete work independently that contributed to projects and wider initiatives. I was trusted both to undergo these pieces of work and then present them and explain what I had done. I was not micromanaged, but was supported effectively.

I have developed skills in public speaking/presenting, data handling & analysis and collaborative working within a team. This was both through my day-to-day work and through the Intern Project that is built into the Early Careers placement structure. I have learnt a lot of Operational skills and some leaning into Engineering, as I come from a mainly unrelated degree and background.

During the placement I was paired with a 'Buddy' and a 'Mentor' who supported me in job-specific and more general, pastoral ways, respectively. These individuals were selected in a tailored way to myself and my role within the company, meaning that the setup was extremely effective and useful. Furthermore, I was supported by the Early Careers team through regular check-in calls where I could discuss any concerns or challenges, and later was supported in career progression queries.

Müller is a very collaborative and welcoming atmosphere. From the first day, the expectations of company values are introduced, and they are reinforced throughout the year by all colleagues. My experience with open plan offices meant that staff from many departments were accessible and approachable. Many employees have worked for the company for a long time, creating a sense of camaraderie

I loved my placement year with Müller. I cannot speak highly enough about my personal experience and the opportunities I have had to get involved throughout my 13 months in the business.
