Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
The role itself is quite easy and the staff are all lovely to me and my coaches were both amazing with their continued support.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I enjoy it a lot even though I don't want to work in optics for my career, I have still really enjoyed my time here. I have had continuous support from everyone around me.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
This role has definitely helped me come out of my shell as I was very shy and quiet before and at the start of my time here, so I have massively improved in my customer service skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
It was very well organised and easy to navigate my way around each system where I would submit my work or contact my coaches if needed.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
I have received a lot of support from my managers here, especially towards the end as I started to get very upset and stressed about both workload and my personal life, so they showed a great amount of care and attention towards me.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
I received a lot of support and understanding from my coaches, especially when I would struggle to submit work and fall behind slightly, they would always encourage me to keep going and showed understanding during busier working periods where I would have less off the job hours tasks completed.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
I feel like this qualification has helped me all across my time here as I have started to get a better understanding with areas such as frame materials and lens materials as I struggled with dispensing at first on shop floor, so the courses provided to me at the time were very beneficial.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

5/5
We always take part in a monthly training session which does sometimes get replaced by a fun time out together but apart from that not really too much.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend Specsavers to a friend?

Yes

Why?

The staff are so caring and lovely and I have definitely made some lifelong friends here and the managers always listen to any issues we personally have going on.

What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Specsavers?

Try not to stress too much when going to the interview and try to be yourself rather than putting up a front because you will feel a lot more comfortable in yourself. The staff all are really lovely so you can always express your thoughts and feelings to others without being judged.
