Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

I support 3 large client account teams in the financial services sector. Some are only UK-based and others operate worldwide. I support the account teams with anything they need, it typically involves prep for client meetings or hosting client events. My role is very client-facing, which I love, and I enjoy getting to see what sales is like.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes, as I proved the teams could trust me, they gave me more and more responsibility. I even owned and ran my own client events.

Yes, I have developed both educational skills about technologies, but also learning new skills how tools work (e.g. salesforce) and my interpersonal skills have developed too.

I had a lot, all of my teams were very supportive and I felt comfortable to go to any of my managers to raise any struggles I had if I needed to.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

I really enjoyed the company culture at IBM, it felt like a perfect fit for me. I always felt like I was part of a team rather than just the 'intern'. IBM is very inclusive and has great flexibility when it is needed. I even set up a charity day for a client.
