Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.

Day to day I would make sure that everyone knew who was joining and leaving the squad, a squad which was made up of over 200 people. I also was given a delivery role, which led me to deal with stakeholders. The people there also made the job very enjoyable. Even for a large squad the team worked well together and looked after each other. The job required you to be able to work in a high pace environment and be adaptable. You would also have to make sure you could talk to clients in a professional manner, which included managing clients.

Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?

Yes I was given a lot. I worked closley with client.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?

I've learned and developed many skills during my time here. I have learned soft skills as well as technical skills. What I would say is because IBM is a huge coporate company, the more you put in the more you get out. You can find more opportunities if you push yourself and be proactive. This helped both my networking and multitasking skills.

Company Culture

What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?

The company culture at IBM is incredible. There is a place for everyone and it is a very social company. As an intern, I was never expected to be working past 5pm. The people is what makes this company so good, and I have grown very fond of everyone on my team. Expect an amazing culture if you apply here! There is also plenty of giveback, and I was lucky to be part of the Movember squad at IBM that was invited to and won an award at the Movember awards!
