Yes, I was given a high level of responsibility during my placement, along with the flexibility to explore areas beyond my core role. This allowed me to gain a broader understanding of the business. Being trusted to take ownership of tasks while also having the freedom to learn across teams was what made the placement valuable.

Developed both new and existing skills. Gained hands-on experience with tons of IBM software, improved my Excel skills, and programming knowledge. Strengthened my communication, presentation, and professional working practices.

My line manager was very accommodating and provided consistent support throughout. However, there was a gap in early careers support due to my foundation (early careers) manager leaving a few months into my placement and being replaced later, which impacted the consistency of guidance in that area.

The company culture was very welcoming and supportive, especially for interns. There were plenty of social events for interns and the wider early careers community, which helped create a strong sense of inclusion. The atmosphere overall was approachable and friendly.

I enjoyed my placement overall. While it had its ups and downs, it was a great opportunity to learn more about myself, develop my skills, and gain Invaluable experience in a professional environment.
