Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
4/5
My role is to facilitate communication among the project, client, and agencies regarding hiring and project milestones.
To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
5/5
It has been very good not only at teaching me a lot (through workplace hands-on experience and the university degree) but also at teaching me the skills needed to thrive in the workplace and in corporate settings.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
5/5
I think everything I know beyond python programming has been learnt through this experience, whether it be business operations, tech based skills such as programming in multiple different languages, or interpersonal skills.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

It has been very well structured, but not strict. So there is a process for everything, but I still have the option to move about and grow my own career.
How much support do you receive from your employer?

My employer, especially my manager, has been incredibly supportive, going above and beyond to ensure I am doing well at work and at uni, as well as in my well-being and personal life. I have them to thank for a very smooth past 4 years!
How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
5/5
I actively participate in many activities, whether it be networking socials or just simple drinks after work, as well as giving back events or competitions. There is always something to do at work besides the main job role. Recently, I took part in a bake sale. I didn't win, but my cookies were a hit.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
Honestly, regardless of how tough or stressful your role is, your careers manager is always there to ensure you have a voice. Moreover, it has a great atmosphere, and although there is a variety of ages, it doesn't feel too young or too old, and there is no segregation between the two. This means you can relate to and enjoy being with the younger crowd, or have wisdom passed down from the "elders". Moreover, globally, IBMers are always happy to help out or have a chat, making it a very good place to learn and network across sectors and borders. Finally, there is always another industry or career path you can jump into if you look for it, not limiting you to one space.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
Be yourself and be open. For early careers, IBM doesn't hire based on knowledge and experience; they hire for vitality, willingness to learn, and sociability. So put your best foot forward and be open!
