Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
5/5
My current role is as a platform engineer in the public sector, where we build 4-6 week MVPs/Pilots co-creatively with clients in order to prove out innovative technologies prior to production and contract signing.
I have had previous roles as a Partner specialist, and as a hardware technical specialist for mid-range enterprise servers

4/5
My company itself was excellent and very supportive, and hosted learning sessions for apprentices that taught me a lot, but the actual university itself that I attended unfortunately had poor management and the modules weren't very specialised or in depth. But I was one of the first cohorts to go through with them, and my company did it's best to feedback and work with the uni to improve it as much as they could, the university just wasn't a particularly great academic body despite seemingly great reviews they boasted.
Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
3/5
There are some where I am based, but a lot of the events are at the London office as this is where a majority of people work from. But there were some at my base location, and I was also able to attend a few of the ones in London through my company too.

Recommendations & Advice

Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
Yes
Why?
It's a really great and supportive way to work, the learning culture is excellent even for non-EPHs. I've recommended it to a lot of people, and even helped some people to find how to apply.
What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
The focus of interviews/assessment tasks isn't to have the technical skills or get the right answer, it's to assess how you work as a team and how you respond to challenges, so don't worry if you don't have technical expertise as you will learn that within the business and the soft skills are what we're looking for.
