Overview of Role

Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

5/5
I begun my apprenticeship by doing rotations across the warehouse floor, including departments such as inbound and inventory. I then moved on to the functional areas such as training and development and now currently HR where I have chosen to specialise in. I am currently in the training phase and learning the different processes and procedures of HR.

To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

5/5
I am enjoying it, its exciting to learn different roles and understand what departments I work well with. Its also interesting seeing how the theory learnt at University applies directly to operations at the workplace.

Skills Development

Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

5/5
Prior to my apprenticeship I had no knowledge on logistics, since I have joined I understand the role of a 3PL and the importance of it. By specialising in HR I am learning about different company policies and how to apply these to real scenarios. I have developed my problem solving skills by dealing with different types of cases.

Structure and Support

How well organised/structured is your programme?

5/5
From a University perspective there has been a clear outline from day 1 of what the course will look like, when each module will take place etc. The training plan provided by the university is particularly helpful as it gives me an idea of what i need to be doing prior, during and after block studies.
From a work perspective I was given a run through of what my rotations would look like, the programme started by me following this however it did begin to change as i gained an understanding of what type of roles/ activities i enjoyed and was taking more away from.

How much support do you receive from your employer?

5/5
My current work based mentor is extremely supportive, ensuring i am given the appropriate amount of exposure to enable me to complete my assignments to full potential. They check up on how i am getting on with my studies and ensuring i am not falling behind.

How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?

5/5
My mentor ensures i use my 6 hours off the job weekly to make sure i do not fall behind on any deadlines etc. When i need proofreading my mentor offers that support and gives me constructive criticism helping me to achieve my full potential in grades.

How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

5/5
Theories i learn at university through my module studies helps me to understand what types of process my site implements, i am able to provide ideas and feedback when I analyse the current processes our site uses.

Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)

3/5
at the moment none.
